Tourism Philosopher & Regenerative Tourism Specialist
I support and engage the tourism industry in the transition to regenerative tourism. With a deep passion for places, local communities, nature connection, and conscious entrepreneurship, I help destinations and businesses navigate this transformation.
About Me
I'm a tourism philosopher working in an industry undergoing profound transformation. My mission is "Connecting people with places" – because I believe our places matter deeply to us, and we have an important role to play for the places we live on and with.
With 30 years of experience in the tourism industry, I bring both practical knowledge and philosophical depth to my work. More than half of that time I've run my own adventure tourism businesses, including kayaking, mountain biking, and zipline activities, as well as a café and kayak shop. This hands-on experience gives me a grounded understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing tourism businesses today.
I'm educated in business development and marketing for the tourism industry, as well as trained as a culture and nature guide. I've also worked as a teacher, educating future nature guides and sharing my knowledge with the next generation of tourism professionals.
As co-founder of Regenerating Tourism Studio, I'm building bridges between regenerative thinking and practical tourism development. I believe that the path to a better future for coming generations partly goes through understanding ourselves, each other, and the places we live on.
My Approach
Regenerative tourism isn't just about doing less harm – it's about creating positive impact for both people and places. I help organizations move beyond sustainability toward tourism that actively restores and regenerates local ecosystems, cultures, and communities.
In my work, I combine strategic thinking with practical tools, philosophical depth with concrete action steps. Whether through keynote speeches, workshops, or longer consulting engagements, I create spaces for reflection, learning, and transformation.
Services
